  • What is Oxytetracycline Injection?

Main Ingredients: oxytetracycline (the content should be 90.0% to 110.0% of the labeled amount.)

Appearance:: the solution should be yellow to light brown clear liquid.

    Description:

Oxytetracycline is a both broad-spectrum antibiotic and tetracycline antibiotic, with bacteriostatic action against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms (like Streptococci, Staphylococci, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Corynebacteria spp., Erysipelothrix, Coliforms, Salmonella), Rickettsiae, Mycoplasmas, Chlamydia, and some protozoa. Activity against Pseudomonas, Proteus- and Klebsiella spp. is low.

Oxytetracycline injection is administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection, which functions by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, effectively stopping bacterial growth. The dosage of administration depends on the severity and type of infection being treated.

    Effect

After absorption, this product is widely distributed in the body, easily penetrates into the chest, abdominal cavity, and milk, and can also enter the fetal circulation through the placental barrier. It is mainly excreted in its original form by glomerular filtration. When renal function is impaired, the excretion is slow and the half-life is prolonged. The half-life is 10.5 hours in horses, 4.3 to 9.7 hours in cattle, 6.7 hours in pigs, and 4 to 6 hours in dogs and cats.
